The parish complies with
the requirements of "Safeguarding Trust", the
Church of Ireland's Code of Good Practice for working with children
and young people. Leaders attend special training sessions and are acquainted
with the Code.
We have a varied diet of
activities for children and young people, thanks to a dedicated group
of youth workers. Among them The Girls' Friendly Society, The Boys'
Brigade, two Sunday Schools and the Confirmation Class. Our Badminton
Club also has a flourishing and successful youth section.
Older young people participate
in the regular social, and sporting events of West Cork Youth - an affiliation
of young people from the Church of Ireland parishes of West Cork.
During
the summer we shared a week of activities with the young people from
the Methodist Church in a Summer Club entitled "Groundbreakers".
With the help of many adult leaders and especially Captain Keith (ably
assisted by Bob the Builder!) we explored bible heroes who had been
groundbreakers for God.
